Dr. Mohamed A. El-Erian is Chief Economic Advisor to Allianz, the corporate parent of PIMCO where he served as CEO and co-CIO (2007-14). He is a contributing editor at the Financial Times and a Bloomberg View columnist. Previously, he served as Chair of President Obama's Global Development Council, President and CEO of the Harvard Management Company, Managing Director at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup, and Deputy Director at the International Monetary Fund. Named four years in a row by Foreign Policy as one of the "Top 100 Global Thinkers," he has written two award winning New York Times best sellers. He serves on the Financial Times jury for Business Book of the Year (since 2014), and is a member of several non-profit boards and committees (including NBER, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, KAUST and, previously, the International Center for Research on Women and several US Treasury/Federal Reserve/IMF committees). Since 2007, he has been chair of Microsoft's Investment Advisory Committee. He earned his undergraduate degree at Cambridge and his masters and doctorate degrees at Oxford.
