BWC Announces New Leadership Appointments, Including Agustín Carstens and Janet Yellen 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Washington, DC – 15 October 2025) Today, the Bretton Woods Committee announces the appointment of seven new global economic, financial, and political leaders to its Board of Directors and Advisory Council leadership bodies.  

BWC’s Leadership has played a key role in the organization’s growth in the last five years. This new class of leadership combines expertise from the private sector, government, and multilateral institutions and will undoubtedly be an asset in continuing growth and ensuring BWC is equipped for the next era of global cooperation.  

Agustín Carstens, former General Manager at the Bank for International Settlements will join BWC’s Board of Directors. Carstens is a renowned economist and central banker with experience in public finance, financial systems, and monetary policy, having most recently served as General Manager of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Previously, he served as Deputy Managing Director at the International Monetary Fund, Governor of the Bank of Mexico, and Mexico’s Secretary of Finance. He brings an extensive career as a leader in international organizations to BWC’s Board of Directors. 

To the Advisory Council, BWC adds former U.S. Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen; former Under Secretary of the U.S. Treasury for Domestic Finance, Nellie Liang; President of Circle Internet Financial, Heath Tarbert; Citigroup Chief Legal Officer & Corporate Secretary, Brent McIntosh; Global Head of Financial Innovation and Digital Assets at Amazon Web Services, Michael Greenwald; and Chief Global Affairs Officer at Balyasny Asset Management, Brooke Harlow.
