Trade has long been a driver of economic growth, but today’s geopolitical and economic landscape is testing the global trading system in new ways. In this final episode of Brettonomics, Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati joins host Nancy Jacklin to explore the role of trade in advancing economic development, particularly for Indonesia and other emerging markets. They discuss the challenges facing the multilateral trading system, the contributions of the IMF, World Bank, WTO, and G20, and why global cooperation remains essential to fostering sustainable and inclusive growth.
Sri Mulyani Indrawati has served as Indonesia’s finance minister since 2016. Previously, she was the managing director and chief operating officer of the World Bank from 2010 to 2016.
