Melissa Smith

Position: Director of Operations

Bio

Melissa is the Director of Operations at BWC where she works to strengthen BWC’s internal capacity to grow fundraising revenue, deepen member engagement, and execute the organization’s strategic plan. 

She holds a master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University and bachelor’s degree in History from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Previously, she was Donor Relations Manager at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a foreign policy think tank, based in Washington, DC. There, she managed Carnegie’s donor stewardship programs and activities across the institution’s global centers based in Beijing, Beirut, Brussels, Moscow, New Delhi and Washington, DC. Prior to that, Melissa spent several years with the Bretton Woods Committee as Operations Manager.

She now lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with her husband. When she’s not working, she volunteers at a local cat sanctuary, where she has gold status as a frequent adopter after four different pets have charmed her into taking them home.
