In an article for OMFIF, BWC Member Ousmène Mandeng explains how tokenized money market funds convert fund shares into blockchain-based tokens that can be transferred instantly and used for payments or collateral. This could shift institutional liquidity management from redeeming fund shares to circulating them in transactions, reducing redemption pressure. If widely adopted, they may become a major innovation in wholesale finance, though regulatory and technical uncertainties remain.
