How can we bridge the gap between economics and politics? In a new article published in the IMF’s F&D Magazine, BWC Member Alan Blinder highlights the different rationales that drive economists and politicians, making three recommendations to reduce the gap between them. While politicians should adopt a longer-term perspective, economists should shorten their time horizon and place greater emphasis on fairness rather than focusing exclusively on efficiency.
