In a new article posted by the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation, BWC Member Nicole Goldin shares the importance of increasing effective development. Effectiveness of existing approaches is becoming central to how financing for development will be evaluated in the future. Goldin argues that monitoring data to initiate open discussion and creating space for collective decisions about what needs to change is key to successful development. Evidence ought to be used to change co-operation practices, resulting in better and more fair aid around the world. She also states that inclusive dialogue and fair accountability mechanisms are key to effective development. As the world faces shrinking aid budgets, growing fragmentation, multiple actors, and increasing inequality, it is crucial for us to monitor the effectiveness of global economic development.
