Setting the stage for what promises to be an eventful week of discussions at the IMF World Bank Spring Meetings, BWC Members Meg Lundsager, Elizabeth Shortino, and Mark Sobel’s new article in The Hill points out the many benefits of these international financial institutions to those in the Trump administration who might be in doubt. While they concede that the IMF is in need of an agenda refocus, the authors warn that any step back taken by the U.S. will ultimately lead to a step forward for China. Additionally, the IMF has much to offer in the way of national security and economic well-being for the U.S. and many countries of significant geopolitical and economic interest to them.
