Introduction
Founded in 1944, The World Bank Group (WBG) is one of the original Bretton Woods Institutions. It provides financial and technical assistance to developing countries in support of its mission to eradicate extreme poverty and boost prosperity on a livable planet. As the largest single shareholder, wielding veto power over structural modifications, the United States not only possesses unique influence in shaping the Bank’s developmental priorities but also holds a heavily vested interest in its endeavors. Amid recent calls for reform, the US has supported efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and effectiveness within the Bank.
